EU pork markets saw stable prices in February 2025

Germany: Pork prices in Germany remained stable at EUR 1.72 per kilogram in the week ending 5 February 2025. This stability was due to optimism that the foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) outbreak reported on 10 January had been contained, with no new cases reported since then.

UK: In the UK , the EU Standard Pig Price (SPP) rose by 1.08p to 203.91p per kilogram in the week ending 22 February 2025. This marks a reversal of the gradual decline seen since mid-September 2024 .

European Union average: The EU price for S pigs was approximately 155.83p per kilogram, reflecting a slight increase on the previous week. However, the price remained 49p below the equivalent UK reference price.

 Overall, EU pork markets were characterised by stable or slightly increasing prices in February 2025, reflecting effective disease control and production adjustments.
