Dagestan to Increase Meat, Milk, and Egg Production in 2024

Preliminary data show that last year the region produced more than 270 thousand tons of livestock and poultry, as well as 254 million eggs and 952 thousand tons of MILK. Livestock breeders of the republic also collected over 14.5 thousand tons of wool, of which 9.2 thousand tons were fine-wool and semi-fine-wool. At the beginning of 2025, the number of livestock and poultry remained at the level of the same period last year. Dagestan contains 950 thousand heads of cattle , more than 4.8 million sheep and goats, and about 4.5 million heads of poultry.

Currently, there are 74 breeding enterprises in the republic, which contain 10.4 thousand heads of cattle and various breeds of sheep, as well as about 1 thousand sika deer. The breeding stock of agricultural animals is estimated at 34.51 thousand conventional heads.
