Since the beginning of the year, eight outbreaks of African swine fever have been detected in Russia

The ASF virus mainly spreads in wild boar populations. In particular, three epizootic foci were identified in the wild fauna of the Astrakhan region. One outbreak was recorded in the Kostroma, Kursk regions and Primorsky Krai.

Small farms in the Svetloyarsky district of the Volgograd region and the Khvorostyansky district of the Samara region suffered from the introduction of the ASF pathogen.

The ROSSELKHOZNADZOR notes that, despite a more favorable epizootic situation than in Eastern European countries such as Poland and Romania, there remains an increased risk of introducing the virus into personal subsidiary farms with a low level of biological protection.
