The situation with highly pathogenic avian influenza in the world continues to worsen. During the week from December 4 to 10, 342 new outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza were recorded in the world in 24 countries. This is stated in the message of the information and analytical center of Rosselkhoznadzor with reference to the information of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).

The largest number of outbreaks during this period was detected in Nigeria - 150. The situation is also difficult in Italy, where 63 new outbreaks of avian influenza were recorded.

In addition, foci were registered in Belgium (3), Bulgaria (5), Great Britain (34), Germany (8), Israel (4), India (2), Iran (2), Ireland (6), the Netherlands (20) . Also, outbreaks were noted in Norway (1), Pakistan (4), Poland (17), Romania (1), Slovakia (2), France (3), Croatia (4), Czech Republic (3), Sweden (2), Estonia (1), South Africa (3), South Korea (2) and Japan (2).

The disease is recorded both among poultry and wild birds. Circulation of H5N1, H5 and H5N8 virus subtypes has been registered.

Earlier, OIE experts expressed concern about the worsening situation with highly pathogenic avian influenza in the world. The organization's experts called on the poultry sector to strictly follow biosecurity rules and report all new outbreaks of the disease.
