"India is Russia's key partner in agricultural and food trade in South Asia. In 2022, trade increased by 60% and amounted to $1.7 billion, but the ministry and Russian business see great prospects in further developing cooperation with Indian partners," cites his words by the Federal Center for the Development of Exports of Agro-Industrial Complex Products (FGBU "Agroexport") under the Ministry of Agriculture.
On March 14, a business mission of Russian companies exporting agricultural products with the Republic of India began its work in New Delhi. During the plenary session, the main directions for expanding the areas of cooperation in mutual trade in agricultural products were considered.
The HEAD of Agroexport, Dmitry Krasnov, in turn, said that over the past 5 years, Russian exports of agricultural products to India have grown almost 5 times and approached $800 million. The basis of supplies is sunflower and soybean oil, which can continue to grow: according to Krasnov, when solving financial and logistical issues, the supply of Russian oil and fat products to India can reach 800,000 tons in the coming years and exceed $1 billion.
There is also a high potential in the EXPORT of pulses: about 35% of Indians are vegetarians, which generates demand for crop products such as legumes, fresh vegetables, fruits, MEAT and dairy substitutes on a plant basis.
Assistant to the head of ROSSELKHOZNADZOR Artem Daushev pointed to the prospects of exporting meat and finished meat products to India. "We still do not supply much livestock products to India, but we hope to expand the volumes," he said.
