The Volzhanin poultry farm has suspended egg shipments due to an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza.

On December 18, 2023, Volzhanin notified its contractors of the cessation of deliveries due to the detection of a disease at its facilities. Shipments were completely suspended on December 21. Company management is considering the possibility of partially resuming operations; however, according to current estimates, restoring the bird population and implementing all necessary quarantine measures could take up to six months. This period will be used for disinfection, bird HEALTH monitoring, and compliance with veterinary regulations.

The suspension of shipments will result in significant financial losses for Volzhanin OJSC. With reduced profitability caused by quarantine measures, the company will face additional expenses to maintain its business. In 2024 , Volzhanin's revenue amounted to 10.96 billion rubles, a 21.5% increase compared to the previous year, while net profit increased 2.4-fold to 4.59 billion rubles. However, the current situation could threaten this success.

The State Veterinary Service of the Yaroslavl Region has already informed other businesses in the region of the need to take protective measures, including banning unauthorized visits to factories, stricter disinfection controls, and preventing contact with wild birds. In the event of a loss of more than 0.5% of the flock in a single poultry house, the authorities must be immediately notified .

Based on its strong market position, Volzhanin has the potential to recover from these temporary difficulties. Competition with other poultry farms, such as Sinyavskaya and Roskar, will intensify, and the company must adapt to these new conditions to maintain its market position. This situation highlights the importance of adhering to veterinary regulations and preparing for unexpected challenges, giving Volzhanin the opportunity to fully recover and continue supplying the market with high-quality products.
