About 60 heads of cattle were purchased by Barybino Breeding Plant LLC, located in the village of Galchino, Domodedovo City District, Moscow Region. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the region Sergei Voskresensky.
“A batch of Holstein-Friesian cows arrived in the Moscow region from the Czech Republic. Barybino, the leading cattle breeding plant and the largest MILK production enterprise in the region, purchased 59 heads. The livestock of the plant has about 9.4 thousand heads, including cows - 3.9 thousand heads. Gross milk production of the stud farm is over 25,000 tons,” said Sergei Voskresensky.
He added that all arriving animals must undergo a mandatory 30-day quarantine. During this period, veterinary specialists of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region will conduct research in order to prevent the entry of dangerous infectious animal diseases into the country. After that, a decision will be made on the connection of animals with the main dairy herd.
Earlier, Sergei Voskresensky reported that the increase in the number of cattle in the Moscow region since the beginning of the year amounted to more than 2 thousand heads, or 5.5%. Milk yield per cow in the Moscow region is about 22 kg of milk.
