"Aroma stickers" may appear on products to assess their smell and taste

Aroma stickers for evaluating the aroma of products may appear on Russian stores. Shoppers will need to rub the sticker on the packaging to determine the aroma of sausage , cheese, or any other product.

In the future, similar stickers may also be developed for household chemicals, cigarettes, alcohol, and other products.

Aromamedia plans to launch the production of scented labels. Components for them will be imported from Germany and France and printed in Russia.

"Aroma and taste send signals to the same  area  of the brain, allowing the aroma to be used to pre-judge the taste of a product. The sticker begins to smell only when rubbed, allowing all products on the shelf to have their own unique scented sticker," the company's press service explained.

The company believes scented stickers could be implemented in a wide variety of industries. In the pharmaceutical industry, shoppers could evaluate the herbal composition of a product at the pharmacy before purchasing it. There is also potential for the stickers to be used by manufacturers of household chemicals, cigarettes, alcohol, contraceptives, tea, cosmetics, and personal care products.
