The world's largest meat producer JBS was subjected to a cyber attack, affecting a branch in Australia

JBS Foods, a multinational company and the world's largest MEAT producer, has been hit by a cyberattack that has shut down production at the company's Australian division.

The CEO of the Australian division, Brent Eastwood, told the profile portal Beef Central that the company's information systems were the target of the attack. On Monday, the company canceled a planned beef and lamb slaughter across Australia because of the attack, and workers were sent home. The division owns 47 businesses across Australia and operates the country's largest network of manufacturing and fattening facilities, according to the channel. Agriculture Minister David Littleproud confirmed that the government is aware of the attack and the authorities are working to fix the problems.

"We are of course working with law enforcement here in Australia, and we are also working with our international partners," Littleproud said, quoted by the channel.

JBS Foods is a subsidiary of the Brazilian manufacturer JBS SA and has operations in the Americas, Europe, New Zealand and Australia.
