
Last year, EU member states again exported significantly less pork, pork and offal to third countries from January to December compared to the previous year. Exports recorded an overall decline of 18%, AMI reported, based on EU Commission data.
Spain, with a market share of 31%, remains the largest European supplier, although the country's pork exports fell by 19%. Following Spain in second and third place are the Netherlands and Denmark as important exporters, with Danish exports falling by 30% last year. Pork exports from Germany to third countries fell by 16% compared to 2022.
The main buyer of European pork is CHINA , followed by the UK and Japan . Due to the decline in pig numbers in the EU, exports to third countries are expected to continue to decline.
