However, EU meat exports should continue to grow by 2035 (+0.9% per year), mainly due to continued or increasing demand from trading partners and partial substitution of live animal exports by meat .

The EU will continue to export mainly to markets in neighbouring countries ( the UK , Turkey , the Balkans, the Middle East and North Africa).

EU beef imports declined in 2024 due to limited supply from Brazil, which has found more profitable markets elsewhere. In the coming years, EU beef imports may grow only slowly (+0.6% per year) and reach 343,000 tonnes by 2035, driven by limited EU supply, reduced consumption, and sustained demand for certain reductions.
