"Damate" increased the area of ​​land for crops by a third

GC "Damate" has prepared for the spring sowing, the company said. This year, about 2 thousand hectares were allocated for spring sowing, and in total in 2023 more than 4 thousand hectares will be sown, which is 33% more than last year, the company said. Due to the expansion of the area, Damate will be able to plant two new crops - rapeseed and sunflower.

The agricultural activity of Damate is focused on growing feed for livestock from the livestock farms of the group of companies. For example, the harvest from the lands in the North Caucasus Federal District will be directed to the sheep breeding enterprises of the company in this region. Because of this, the bulk of the crops are corn, wheat and barley - these are nutritious crops that allow you to feed sheep, which will later give good MEAT. In addition, this year Damate will plant rapeseed and sunflower for the first time - in total they will occupy a little more than 1 thousand hectares.

According to the analytical agency Imit, the production of small cattle meat - lamb and goat meat - decreased by 2.2% in 2022 and amounted to 205 thousand tons. At the same time, meat production by large agricultural holdings amounted to 17.8 thousand tons, 128 thousand tons in personal subsidiary plots and 59 thousand tons in peasant farms. Private household plots account for more than 60% of the total volume of the industry.
