Brazil expects to increase poultry exports by 4.6%

Between January and May, Brazilian poultry meat exports were 4.6% higher than in the same period in 2021. These numbers show that the sector has rebounded from the 4.7% decline seen in the first two months of 2021. The Brazilian Livestock Association (ABPA) said the country shipped 1.846 million tons in the first 5 months of 2021, up 82,000 tons from the same period last year.

Accumulated revenue is 4.8% higher at $ 2.826 billion in 2021 compared to $2.697 billion in 2020. These figures cover all poultry products, including natural products and processed poultry meat.

"Strong international chicken sales have helped to balance the pressure created by production costs on those companies that have access to exports, which make up about 70% of enterprises under federal control," said ABPA President Ricardo Santin.

According to Santin, importing countries maintain a stable level of demand, and Brazilian products remain competitive abroad, despite high grain prices. Brazil exports its products to more than 143 countries around the world.

Among the main import markets this year, the Philippines, in particular, imported more, increasing purchases to 61,900 tons (+ 65.3%), as did the UK - 41,700 tons (+ 41.4%) and Chile - 39.7 thousand .tons (+152.9%).
