Australian MEAT exports are mixed in October, with increased exports of mutton and goat meat, but decreased exports of beef and lamb.
Lamb and goat meat exports increased by 3% and 4%, respectively, mainly due to increased shipments to the US and CANADA. At the same time, the EXPORT of mutton for the month reached 14,403 tons. In October, the total volume of external supplies of beef amounted to 74,333 tons, which is 6% lower than in September. Lamb sales fell 10% to 19,726 tonnes, the lowest level since January this year, according to Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA).
A decline in sheep slaughter in October contributed to a decline in external supplies, along with interruptions in processing and a delay in spring lambing, despite a 23% increase since September. The levels in October 2020 and 2019 were 24,152 and 26,383 tons, respectively. October is usually the biggest or second biggest month for Australian lamb exports, highlighting the importance of the latest data.
