Argentina: Meat exports fell 26.6% in September


This represents a decline of 26.6% and 23.1% respectively compared to the previous month, according to INDEC data.

In the first 9 months of 2023, exports amounted to 511,500 tons (product weight) worth almost $2,137 million , which is 7.9% more in volume and 22.5% less in value than the same period in 2022 of the year.

Export volumes in September amounted to 26% of meat production.

In September, shipments to China reached 10,600 tons of bone-in meat and trimmings valued at US$14.6 million and 26,000 tons of boneless beef valued at US$86.9 million.

This country accounted for 74.3% of Argentina's total exports in September 2023 and 77.6% of the accumulated volume in the first 9 months of the year. “The average selling price for boneless meat to China in September was around US$3,350 per tonne, well below the high of US$5,900 received in May 2022,” said Mario Ravettino, president of the ABC Consortium.
