"Agrocomplex" named after N.I. Tkacheva, one of the largest Russian agricultural holdings, expects demand for barbecue meat, primarily pork and poultry, to jump 1.5 times before the long weekend in Russia, the company said.
The days from May 1 to May 10 inclusive have been declared non-working in Russia this year in order to minimize social contacts and slow down the spread of coronavirus.
“By the end of this working week, before the start of the weekend from May 1 to May 10, the demand for meat can jump up to 50%. According to the head of the service for the sale of livestock products of the agricultural complex Konstantin Svechnik, which are cited in a press release, the growth in demand for pork, poultry, ready-made shish kebab, as well as other meat products that are usually cooked on the grill, can reach 30% during this period. up to 50%. Demand for beef will grow less as it is traditionally more expensive and therefore less sought after by consumers.
Svechnik assumes that during the entire weekend period, the overall consumer demand for meat and meat products will increase by 15-20%, and at the end of it, it will return from peak values to traditional seasonal indicators. He added that the demand for meat and meat products in the summer grows, as a rule, by 5-10% - due to summer residents. The average check for the purchase of goods needed for cooking shish kebab has grown by 25% over the year, experts at OFD Platform, the largest operator of fiscal data, calculated earlier for RIA Novosti. According to analysts, the average cost of skewers, barbecue, charcoal, ignition and a ready-made set of meat portions in mid-April 2021 was 1,958 rubles. In particular, the average bill for the purchase of a ready-made meat set for barbecue increased by 15% - up to 304 rubles.
