The prosecutor's office of the Lyakhovichi district has supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against a drunk driver without rights who resisted an employee of the internal affairs bodies, BelTA learned from the information service of the prosecutor's office of the Brest region.

The defendant in the criminal case was a 65-year-old local resident. The incident occurred on November 2 in the agricultural town of Nacha. During the duty, traffic police inspectors detained the person involved, who was driving a car in a state of intoxication . In addition, the villager did not have a driver's license. At the same time, the man tried to strike the law enforcement officer with a screwdriver in the HEAD area and threatened with violence.

it has been established that since November 2021, the accused has been twice held liable under Article 18.14 of the Code of Administrative Offenses for driving a vehicle without the appropriate right.

Taking into account the evidence presented by the public prosecutor, on the basis of Part 1 of Article 317-2 and Article 364 of the Criminal Code, the COURT sentenced the defendant to 2 years and 1 month of restriction of freedom with referral to an open correctional facility. He is also deprived of the right to engage in activities related to driving vehicles for 3 years.

The verdict has not entered into force and can be appealed and protested on appeal.
