July 4, Vitebsk. In Vitebsk, 120 people applied for medical help over the past weekend. This was reported to a BelTA correspondent in the Vitebsk City Clinical Emergency Hospital.

The heat forces people to spend more time near water bodies, hide in the shade of trees and shrubs, and affects attentiveness and well-being. As a result, the number of injuries received during recreation or work on personal plots is growing. Over the weekend, the trauma center of the clinical emergency hospital of the regional center received 120 people. Each of them came with acute injuries of the musculoskeletal system.

“On Saturday and Sunday, 120 people sought medical help. Mostly they come with fractures, dislocations, various wounds and bites of ticks and animals,” the trauma center said. “About 30 cases of fractures were recorded over the weekend, almost 50 were bitten by ticks, "17 people received wounds that required primary surgical treatment. Another 3 people were bitten by animals with suspected rabies. 15 people were intoxicated with injuries. One received minor injuries as a result of a traffic accident."

In June, more than 2.7 thousand people were in the queue for a traumatologist. More than 530 of them complained of tick bites, more than 370 came with fractures. In the top 3 most frequent injuries were also wounds requiring primary surgical treatment - about 170. Acute injuries of the musculoskeletal system were received by almost 120 people who were in a state of intoxication. Hospitalization was required for 25 patients. Another 15 - first aid for burns.

To avoid overheating and sunburn, medical professionals recommend avoiding long-term tanning in hot weather, staying out of the sun between 12:00 and 16:00, using sunscreens and ointments, and drinking enough fluids to compensate for fluid loss due to the heat. While relaxing on the water, you should behave carefully, do not dive and, in general, swim in the places allowed for this, where rescue services are on duty nearby, and when relaxing with children, do not lose sight of them for a minute.
