Export of Belarusian agricultural products almost doubled over 10 years

November 29, MINSK. The EXPORT of Belarusian agricultural products almost doubled over 10 years. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Subbotin at a joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic in the Oval Hall of the Government House, BelTA has learned.

"Our country, initially possessing a strong potential for the development of the agro-industrial complex, has achieved significant results in increasing the production and export of agricultural products. Over the period from 2010 to 2020, exports almost doubled and in 2020 amounted to $5.8 billion (against $3.4 billion in 2010. The share of agricultural products in total exports is 20%,” Alexander Subbotin said.

For the first 9 months of 2021, Belarusian organizations exported food products and agricultural raw materials worth more than $4.7 billion (an increase of 12.6% compared to the corresponding period of 2020). The increase in foreign exchange earnings is $529 million. “Moreover, it is gratifying to note that, along with the growth of exports, we are rapidly reducing imports of food products into the country and a positive balance is growing (for this period, almost $1.7 billion),” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

According to him, the growth of exports of certain types of products in physical terms, as well as the growth of average export prices, led to an increase in the value of exports. The export of MEAT and dairy products, eggs, rapeseed oil, fish and fish products, potatoes, vegetables, mushrooms, chocolate, bread and FLOUR confectionery has grown.

Alexander Subbotin also drew attention to the fact that Belarus consistently holds the position of a leading exporter of dairy products along with the EU, New Zealand, the usa and Australia. According to the European Commission, the country ranks 3rd in the world in exports of butter, dry whey, in exports of condensed MILK, 4th in exports of cheese, 5th in exports of skimmed milk powder. Geography of export of foodstuffs and agricultural raw materials - 104 countries of the world.

"Despite the fact that the industry is developing steadily, there are great prospects for increasing the efficiency of agricultural production and export growth. The Chinese market remains underdeveloped , we have not yet fully opened the market of Central Asia, the Middle East, the Islamic world. We are just starting to develop the African market," he said. vice premier.

Export of agricultural products and foodstuffs is expected to reach more than $6 billion by the end of the year.
