State regulation of prices or targeted assistance: Subbotin on government plans

November 29, Minsk. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Subbotin spoke about whether it is planned to extend state regulation of prices for socially important goods, and outlined the prospects for introducing targeted assistance to a joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic in the Oval Hall of the Government House, BelTA has learned.

The government adopted Decree No. 100 dated February 23, 2021, which provides for strict price regulation measures for socially significant essential goods. Later, state price regulation was extended until the end of the year. Alexander Subbotin drew attention to the fact that this was a forced measure, and it worked, but it affects the financial condition of enterprises. He also noted that there are different opinions regarding the extension or cancellation of the decree No. 100.

“At the moment, there is an opinion that Decree No. 100 will most likely remain. But we will reduce the list of socially significant goods to 17, remove boneless meat and other items. We leave bread, milk , whole milk products, and so on,” said Alexander Subbotin .

“But we understand that Decree No. 100 will most likely become obsolete as a legal act, and we will probably move on to targeted assistance, which has been discussed more than once. What format will it be in? I think you will see it in the near future. There has already been a conversation with networks on this topic. Perhaps there will be some bonus cards for pensioners, low-income families with many children," the Deputy Prime Minister informed.
