December 31,
MINSK . New Year holidays are a time for relaxation, joy and meeting with loved ones. However,
ALCOHOL consumption often leads to unpleasant consequences: hangover, deterioration of
HEALTH and general malaise.
Psychiatrist -narcologist,
HEAD of the department of paid services of the Minsk Regional Clinical Center "Psychiatry-Narcology" Tatyana Sinyavskaya told a BELTA correspondent in a commentary about how to spend the holidays cheerfully and stay healthy. However, she warned: if an alcohol
addiction has formed ,
it is better to completely give up alcoholic beverages, because any dose of alcohol can lead to a breakdown.
So, in order not to get drunk quickly and avoid unpleasant consequences, some steps can be taken even before the feast. Firstly, you need to plan not a feast, but
a holiday . It is good if the New Year's program requires active participation. And after the chimes, by the way, you can take a walk in the fresh air. And in general, it is important to move more and walk. Physical activity speeds up
metabolism and helps the body cope with alcohol faster.
Tatyana Sinyavskaya strongly recommends resting and getting enough sleep before New Year's Eve. Fatigue provokes irritability, increases anxiety, and the desire to quickly relax, including by drinking large amounts of alcohol.
Ordinary water removes toxins well. It is also recommended to eat foods containing iodine. Seaweed,
Shrimp , squid, feijoa are rich in iodine, which slows down the process of alcohol absorption. Vitamins B1 and B6 help speed up the metabolism of alcohol. Foods rich in proteins and fats will help slow down the absorption of alcohol.
Before the feast, you can take activated charcoal or another sorbent that binds toxins and prevents rapid intoxication.
Already during the feast, you should not mix different types of alcohol. Otherwise, this can lead to rapid intoxication.
"Don't drink quickly. Take breaks between glasses, it is not at all necessary to drink
" to the end," noted Tatyana Sinyavskaya.
According to her, it is important to alternate alcohol with non-alcoholic drinks. This will help slow down the process of intoxication. It should be a rule to combine alcohol with a large amount of liquid (for a glass of wine or 50 g of strong alcohol - one
a glass of clean water). This will help get rid of the effects of alcohol intoxication. Carbonated drinks, which accelerate the absorption of alcohol, are undesirable.
"If you feel that you are getting drunk, take a break: ventilate the room or go outside to breathe fresh air. Physical activity is useful. You can eat
an APPLE , drink water or juice. Alternatively, squeeze some lemon juice into water and drink: vitamin C is involved in binding toxins and accelerates their elimination," advises a psychiatrist-narcologist.
In general, Tatyana Sinyavskaya drew attention to the importance of adhering to the norms of safe alcohol consumption. For men, these are 3-4 standard doses of alcohol, for women - 2-3 standard doses at a time with 2-3 days of sobriety per week. She explained that one standard dose is the amount of an alcoholic beverage containing 10 g of 100% ethanol. This is approximately one shot glass (25 ml) of vodka, cognac or whiskey; one glass (75-100 ml) of 10-12% wine; one small glass (200-250 ml) of beer.
By the way,
the DOCTOR does not recommend buying children's champagne for the holiday
table . Imitation alcohol, lowering the threshold of parental prohibition, is essentially propaganda of consumption.
