
Stavropol Territory is among the top three wool producers in the Russian Federation. At the end of 2021, wool production is tentatively 5.1 thousand tons. Of which more than 80% - fine-wool and semi-fine-wool.
About 600 tons of high-quality fine-fleeced wool are annually produced in the tribal organizations of the region, where every year there is a tendency to improve it.
“The development of sheep breeding is supported at the regional and federal levels. About 100 million rubles are allocated annually for these purposes. In 2021, state support was provided to 68 agricultural producers,” said Sergey Izmalkov, Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.
Stavropol wool is sold to the Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Bryansk regions, the Karachay-Cherkess Republic and other regions of the country. In addition, wool produced in the Stavropol Territory is highly valued in China and India.
