Construction of an agrobiotechnology center has been completed at the Stavropol State Agrarian University

A new research site on the basis of SSAU will allow scientists to carry out a range of strategic tasks that contribute to the development of the region’s agro-industrial complex.
The Center for Agrobiotechnology is an innovative research complex covering one and a half thousand square meters. There are 7 laboratories located on this area, some of which have no analogues either in the Southern Federal District or in the North Caucasus Federal District. These include a laboratory for PCR diagnostics of plants, created jointly with the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a laboratory for soil microbiology, as well as unique laboratories for agrochemical analysis and phytosanitary monitoring.
The capacity of the Center for Agrobiotechnologies in the first stages alone will allow performing about 300 studies using advanced techniques and technologies. At the same time , scientists from leading scientific centers of Russia will participate in the work : MIPT, IBCh RAS, Moscow State University, Federal Scientific Center named after. Michurin, All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources named after. Vavilov, All-Russian Corn Research Institute, North Caucasus Federal Scientific Center, North Caucasus Federal Scientific Center for Horticulture, Viticulture, Winemaking.
The Center for Agrobiotechnologies will operate as part of the Institute of Agricultural Genetics and Breeding, created at the Stavropol State Agrarian University in 2023.
“The laboratories created here are a new point of growth for our university. The potential of the agrobiotechnology center is enormous. In addition to the material and technical equipment, there is a unique team of scientists here that will make it possible to take a huge step in the development of the industry,” emphasized Vladimir Sitnikov, rector of SSAU.
The construction of the Center for Agrobiotechnologies proceeded with the full support of Governor Vladimir Vladimirov. About 200 million rubles were allocated for the implementation of the project, part of which came from grant funds under the Priority 2030 program.
