Progressive seed production is underway in the Saratov region

The experimental implementation enterprise "Pokrovskoe" of the Engels district of the Saratov region is engaged in selection, seed production, and improvement of the technology for cultivating the main agricultural crops proposed for cultivation in the regions of the Russian Federation and neighboring countries.
“We have now completed processing the data obtained during scientific work in the field. Research in the greenhouse and climate chambers is carried out year-round. New lines of sunflower hybrids that are resistant to herbicides of various chemical classes are being tested here,” said the chief agronomist of the enterprise, Alexander Sugrobov.
To date, representatives of the enterprise have created and patented more than 59 varieties and hybrids of grains, cereals, legumes, oilseeds and fodder crops.
“All seeds comply with GOST standards, are supplied packaged and accompanied by the necessary package of documents. Now the seeds of lentils, chickpeas, soybeans, safflower, sorghum, buckwheat, as well as sunflower varieties and hybrids are ready for sale,” said Marina Serebryakova , DIRECTOR of the OVP.
The enterprise's capacity allows parallel cleaning and drying of several crops and varieties. Many processes take place automatically.
“The enterprise is engaged in the production of domestic varieties and hybrids of various agricultural crops. Work in this direction is now relevant. If previously a large percentage of vegetable crops were of foreign selection, today our Engels enterprise is developing this niche. Thanks to insurance reserves, the Engels region is 110% supplied with grain crops,” noted Vladimir Ermilov, HEAD of the department of agriculture and processing industry.
