In the coming year, the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Gossortkomissiya" Tomsk GISIS will start processing fields in the Zyryansky district. The area of the site where variety trials will be carried out will occupy 170 hectares of land. At the moment, the Tomsk GIS has experimental fields in the Tomsk and Shegarsky districts. The total area of the two operating sites is 200 hectares.
According to Sergey Kupriyanov, the DIRECTOR of the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Gossortkomissiya" Tomsk GSIS, the enterprise needs about a hundred more hectares of land in order to fully satisfy all the needs of the company for the long-term development of the branch.
“Every year, new crops and new varieties come to the region for testing. In the field season of 2021, the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Gossortkomissiya" Tomsk GSIS conducted 309 variety trials. Of these, 163 varieties were submitted for testing in accordance with the state order. Among the crops there are traditional ones: cereals, legumes, industrial and fodder crops. But there are also crops that come to the region for trials for the first time,” Sergey Kupriyanov said.
For example, lentils were tested for the first time in the 2020 field season in the Tomsk Region. The prototypes showed a very good result - the average yield for two years was 24 c/ha. This is an excellent result for the West Siberian region. There were two domestic varieties during the tests - "Lira 3" and "Ekaterinovskaya". Based on the results of the work, both varieties were included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements Approved for Use.
In the past agrarian year, chickpeas of the domestic variety Omsky 1 were tested for the first time. The standard was the variety of Volgograd originators "Privo 1". The yield of the tested variety was 17.9 c/ha, which is at the level of the standard, that is, Omsky 1 proved to be worthy. Trials of the variety will continue this year. Based on the results of two years, a decision will be made whether to recommend the variety or not for inclusion in the State Register.
Recall that the varieties included in the State Register for the tenth climatic zone are recommended for cultivation on the territory of the Tomsk region, as the most promising.
“The zoned varieties give the best harvest, they are resistant to diseases and pests, adapted for industrial production in the region where they were tested and registered,” Sergey Kupriyanov explained.
To carry out field work, the State Sort Commission of the Tomsk GISIS constantly renews the fleet of equipment. So, in 2020, the enterprise received a new harvester "Vector" and a tractor "Belarus". In 2021, it purchased another Belarus tractor and KAMAZ with a trailer. This year, it is planned to build and install a new grain drying complex and a grain warehouse at a site in the Tomsk region, as well as a major overhaul of a garage for winter storage of equipment.
