Today, this is the only and most comprehensive reference publication for agricultural producers and agronomists on biological protection and plant nutrition, as well as environmentally friendly solutions for livestock farming.
The List includes more than 1,000 products from 85 companies. 99% of products are from domestic companies, with production in RUSSIA from renewable raw materials.
The directory has been published since 2018 and is updated annually. The changes with the previous edition, 2023, are significant - more than 70% of the information has been changed, added, or deleted. The market for biological nutrition and plant protection is dynamic. Some companies are expanding or reducing their offering portfolios, some are leaving the market.
For more than ten years, the Union of Organic Farming has been collecting information useful to agricultural producers, members of the Union, and at the same time openly sharing it with a wide audience. The current edition of the List can be downloaded for free on the Union’s website in the “Documents” section: https://soz.bio/perechen-biopreparatov-i-bioudobren-2/
Interaction with the Union of Organic Farming, provision of information about products, test results has become a marker of openness and reliability of companies. Every year, according to Yandex metrics, the List on the Union website is viewed more than 6,000 times, which indicates the demand for this information for the real sector.
“In essence, the List is a detailed overview of the agrobiotechnologies market in Russian agriculture. It presents leading companies, leaders, as well as those who have recently entered the market and are launching new products. A new agricultural revolution is already underway throughout the world, and we see that Russia can become a leader in this growing segment. According to experts, the global market for biorational pesticides and fertilizers will grow by 10% annually. Already in developed countries, 18–20% of agricultural producers use biological preparations in large quantities, while 46–62% of them indicate a high level of satisfaction with these products,” says Sergei Korshunov, Chairman of the Board of the Union of Organic Farming.
Russian biotechnological production is high-tech, knowledge-intensive; most companies have a significant base of field production tests and know how their products work in different regions on different crops. 13 companies have their own laboratories. Most companies have employees with academic degrees and modern equipment that allows them to maintain stable quality of their products.
Biological products, biofertilizers and feed additives for animals and bees that have confirmation for use in organic agriculture are marked in the List with special signs - logos of organic products according to the Russian standard (white sheet on a green background) and according to international standards (Euro sheet). Confirmation means that the active ingredients, composition and production process meet a certain organic standard and such products can potentially be used in organic production. However, despite such a document, the organic producer still coordinates each means of production with its certification body.
The number of companies whose products are certified as meeting organic production standards increased from 13 in 2023 to 22 in 2024 .
“Recently, we have been seeing requests not only from organic producers for biological products and biofertilizers with confirmation of use in organic production, because even for ordinary agricultural producers this is a guarantee of environmental friendliness of the products,” says Sergei Korshunov.
The plant protection products section includes biofungicides, bioinsecticides, entomophages, and bioadhesives. In biological nutrition - microbiological biofertilizers, growth stimulants, inoculants, humates, fertilizers based on manure, peat, sapropel, natural minerals, seaweed, extracts from plant raw materials, microelement biofertilizers. For livestock farming, the List includes probiotics, biological feed additives, microbiological preparations for silage of feed, for decomposition of livestock residues, decomposable bedding. There are also biological preparations and feed additives for bees. Since 2023, a section for organic and untreated seeds has been added to the List and is being expanded.
Each name indicates the active ingredients, state registration, manufacturer, and a description of the action. At the end of the List there are direct contacts of manufacturers, as well as information about competence centers, universities and research institutes that conduct scientific research in the field of biologization of production and organic agriculture.
The Union of Organic Farming is confident that in the near future the greening of production will become mandatory for everyone. The rapid degradation of soil, the main resource of agriculture, the deterioration of public HEALTH, the quality of food, the increase in human diseases related to nutrition, environmental degradation, the death of bees, pollinators, wild inhabitants from chemical pesticides, and the decrease in agrobiodiversity make the transition of agriculture to agrobiotechnology inevitable.
From the point of view of agricultural production as a business, the transition to biological products and biofertilizers allows, while maintaining profitability, to reduce costs for protection and nutritionplants, increase productivity by 10-30%, increase plant immunity and soil suppressiveness, improve shelf life and quality of products, reduce climatic stress.
