Saratov farmers sow 2 million hectares of spring crops

Agrarians of the region have overcome a new frontier of the spring sowing campaign. By May 22, 2 million 131 thousand hectares of spring crops were sown in the region (75% of the plan), of which the grain group - 904 thousand hectares, or 71%.
Industrial crops were sown on 1 million 176 thousand hectares, including sunflower - 1 million 023 thousand hectares. The largest areas of sunflower - more than 50 thousand hectares - are sown today in Samoilovsky, Yekaterinovsky, Kalininsky municipal districts.
At the forefront of the 2023 sowing campaign are Perelyubsky, Pugachevsky, Kalininsky, Balashovsky municipal districts.
“Spring sowing will amount to about 2.9 million hectares. This year we see an increase in the area under durum wheat, chickpeas, peas, sugar beets. In general, we assess the course of the sowing campaign as rhythmic: we sow about 70-90 thousand hectares per day. The task is to carry out agrotechnical work in the optimal time. I am sure that the agrarians of the region will not let you down,” commented Roman Kovalsky, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government, Minister of Agriculture of the region.
