Since the beginning of the year, greenhouse complexes in the Stavropol region have produced more than 28 thousand tons of protected ground vegetables

While the agrarians of the region are actively working in the fields and sowing vegetables in the open field, they continue to harvest in the Stavropol greenhouse complexes.
So, at the beginning of the year, agricultural producers harvested more than 28 thousand tons of protected ground vegetables. Tomatoes account for the most part - more than 23 thousand tons, the crop of greenhouse cucumbers amounted to 6.6 thousand tons, other vegetable crops (lettuce and green crops) were harvested 75 tons.
The strategic task facing the agro-industrial complex of the region is to provide the population with fresh vegetables of its own production all year round, reducing dependence on import supplies in the off-season. To this end, 11 large greenhouse complexes with a total area of more than 232 hectares are engaged in the industrial production of tomatoes, cucumbers and other greenhouse greens in the region.
“Production of greenhouse vegetables is actively developing in the Stavropol Territory. Year-round production of fresh tomatoes and cucumbers is provided by agricultural producers, whose main capacities are concentrated in Izobilnensky, Kirovsky and Predgorny districts. All of them make a significant contribution to food security, providing the population with domestic products,” said Elena Tambovtseva, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.
Governor Vladimir Vladimirov sets a strategic task for the agro-industrial complex of the region to increase the production of vegetable products and increase the competitiveness of Stavropol in this direction among other regions of the country.
The stable development of vegetable growing is possible due to the existing measures of state support.
Recall that this year, agricultural producers of the region received a subsidy to reimburse part of the costs for the production of greenhouse vegetables produced using the technology of supplementary lighting. For these purposes, 58 million rubles were allocated from the consolidated budget, which is 2.8 times higher than the level of the previous year.
