pionerprodukt.by continues to publish videos from the AgroExpedition “Agriculture of the Republics of Dagestan”. In this video we will show how a small fish smoking workshop turned from a small agricultural enterprise into one of the largest eco-tour complexes in the republic.
Glavryba, 18 years ago, began with a simple smoking shop. Now the complex specializes in growing amber and rainbow trout with an average annual volume of 50 tons. In addition, the enterprise grows carp, grass carp, kutum, and even has several cages with sturgeon for experimentation.
Anyone can purchase trout on the territory of the complex; in addition, the enterprise supplies all large supermarkets of the republic with smoked trout. At the same time, work is actively underway to develop markets in other regions of Russia and neighboring countries.
The choice of trout is determined by the climatic conditions of the area: the water of the Sulak River is cold all year round, which will create ideal conditions for trout. Cages (160 in total) 80 centimeters deep are installed on the river, into which from 500 to 1900 individuals are placed, then, depending on the increase in weight, the trout are planted from one cage into four. Until recently, there was incubation of eggs, but with the increased demand for fish, a decision was made to purchase fry.
Over time, the cages begin to become overgrown with algae, which impairs water flow, so every 2 months the cage is lifted using a special beam and cleaned.
The company produces food for trout independently. The food is prepared from minced fish, which is passed through a granulator along with second-grade flour. The food is prepared every day; it is not possible to store it for future use, because the food spoils quickly. Trout are fed three times a day.
Over the past five years, the Republic of Dagestan has experienced a tourism boom, so the enterprise is also open to the public. Entrance to the enterprise is free, but all activities and entertainment have their price. On average, the farm receives 3.5 thousand tourists per day during the season. By the way, much attention is paid to the development of tourism, and the focus is on children's and family vacations. On the territory there are children's playgrounds, a water park, a zoo, a Ferris wheel, active tours in the surrounding area and tourist houses for up to 70 people. To introduce tourists to the culture and history of Dagestan, on the territory of the enterprise there is a saklya with household items, many of which have their own unique history.
