In the Vologda region, a historical maximum in milk production was beaten

The average productivity in agricultural organizations amounted to more than 8,000 kg per forage cow, which is 18% higher than the average for Russia. Plus, the volume of milk production in farms of all categories exceeded 590 thousand tons, which is also the best result over the past 28 years.

Thus, despite all the difficulties faced by farmers in the region last year, associated with rising prices for feed, fuel and energy resources, consumables, fertilizers, as well as abnormal heat, agricultural producers not only did not allow a decrease in production and productivity of the dairy herd, but also maintained a positive growth trend.

“The growth in milk production is primarily associated with the introduction of modern technologies for keeping and feeding cows, conducting high-level selection and breeding work with the herd, as well as prompt response to emerging problems in the industry and making timely decisions on measures of state support from Government of the region, - said the head of the Department of Agriculture and Food Resources of the region Sergey Poromonov. – In 2021, more than 3.5 billion rubles were allocated to support agricultural production, including 2,764.7 billion rubles from the regional budget and 764.6 billion rubles from the federal budget. Few entities provide such significant support through regional funds.”

For 2022, the agrarians of the region have been tasked not only to maintain the positive trend in milk production and ensure the food security of the region, but also to increase indicators through the creation of a highly efficient forage base, the introduction of innovative animal husbandry technologies and more active use of the genetic potential of the dairy herd.

To achieve the goals of the economy of the region, they have all the necessary resources. To date, 12 investment projects are being implemented in dairy farming. By 2023, it is planned to create 4.4 thousand cattle places for cattle.

Every year, the milking herd is transferred to a more modern and high-tech milking process - using milking robots or in milking parlors. Now there are 40 modern milking parlors and 77 stations for voluntary milking of cows (robots), which serve 34% of the total number of cows.
