The Minister of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan met with representatives of a large seed company

On Wednesday, June 7, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan, Mukhtarbiy Adzhekov, held a meeting with representatives of the Poisk agricultural seed-growing company near Moscow. DIRECTOR of the Dagestan Experimental Station, a branch of VIR, Kishtili Kurkiev,
took part in the meeting with Alexander Khovrin, HEAD of the Selection and Primary Seed Production Service of the Poisk company, and Lyubov Timakova, the leading specialist of the seed production enterprise . During the discussion, Mukhtarbiy Adzhekov recalled that Dagestan is a leader among Russian regions in the production of vegetables and the authorities of the republic are taking systemic measures to develop vegetable seed production.

“Our potential in this direction has not yet been fully realized. Today we prioritize the implementation of measures to revive domestic seed production, so we have established cooperation with leading Russian seed companies,” he said.
The minister stressed that Dagestan has unique natural and climatic conditions that allow growing high-quality seed material. In this regard, the largest breeding centers of the country are interested in cooperation with the republic.
“For our country, the issues of import substitution are still relevant, so we will take all necessary measures for the successful work of domestic companies. I am sure that we can produce seeds not only for vegetable growers in Dagestan, but also in other regions,” added Mukhtarbiy Adzhekov.
In turn, Alexander Khovrin and Lyubov Timakova spoke about the work carried out in the republic and thanked the minister for creating favorable conditions for research activities.
