The US Department of Commerce has decided to impose EXPORT restrictions on 11 entities, including two Russian firms associated with aviation. This is stated in the notice posted on the website of the US Federal Register.
In particular, the Russian companies Aviatech and Aviazapchast were subject to restrictions.
In addition, five firms from China were subjected to restrictions, as well as Nicaraguan and Myanmar companies. Sanctions are imposed, as stated in the document, "for actions against US interests in the field of national security or foreign policy."
Since the end of February 2022, Western countries have repeatedly tightened sanctions against Moscow. The US and the EU, in particular, banned the supply of aircraft and spare parts, maintenance and insurance of aircraft, and closed airspace for Russian aircraft.
Western sanctions have led foreign lessors to demand that Russian air carriers return the aircraft. The Federal Air Transport Agency recommended that airlines not operate flights abroad on cars that are in foreign leasing. In addition, Vladimir Putin last year signed a law that allows registration of rights to such aircraft in Russia. it will be possible to fly on Western-made aircraft remaining in the country, provided that their airworthiness is maintained, until 2030, according to the Federal Air Transport Agency.
Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, speaking on March 23 with a report on the work of the government, said that from 2026 it is planned to ensure the annual production of more than 100 aircraft of various modifications in Russia. According to him, tests of the regional Il-114 and the Baikal light multi-purpose aircraft have already been completed, and the first flight of the updated Sukhoi Superjet with a Russian engine will take place in the next three months.
