In Moscow, for the first time since January, more than 5,000 cases of COVID-19

Over the past 24 hours, 5,245 people infected with the COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS have been identified in Moscow. This was reported by the operational headquarters for the fight against coronavirus infection.

The last time more than 5 thousand cases in the capital was recorded on January 15. Then the coronavirus was detected in 5534 people. Then the number of infections began to decline - from the end of January to the end of May, from 1 thousand to 3 thousand cases were detected daily.

Moscow ranks first among Russian regions in terms of the number of cases and deaths due to COVID-19. In the capital, over the entire period of the pandemic, 1.2 million people were infected with coronavirus, of which 20,711 died, follows from the data of the operational headquarters.

According to the latest data from the operational headquarters, in RUSSIA COVID-19 was found in more than 5.1 million people. Of these, 4.7 million have recovered, 270,676 have died. At the same time, Rosstat counted more than 270 thousand deaths from COVID-19 from the beginning of the pandemic to April inclusive. The difference with the data of the operational headquarters is explained by differences in methodology - the statistical office takes into account, among other things, cases where the coronavirus was not the main cause of death, as well as cases where infection was confirmed after death.
