This was announced by the head of the region Radiy Khabirov at a government meeting.
“We analyzed mortality: mostly people [are dying] aged 60 plus and people who have severe diseases. Today I will prepare and sign a decree: from the 13th, we will introduce a self-isolation regime for people over 65 years old. This applies to those who are not vaccinated,” the head of the republic said.
The requirement for self-isolation will not apply to citizens who have been vaccinated in this category, Radiy Khabirov emphasized. He said that the decision was made in connection with the appeal of the heads of the republican covid hospitals.
The head of the republic instructed the municipal authorities to “organize all services” so that citizens at risk stay at home. The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labor should "think over the mechanisms of how to administer" the implementation of this requirement. The rules for self-isolation will be similar to those introduced in the first wave of COVID-19 in the spring of 2020, Khabirov added. Then it was possible to leave the house in a number of cases. Elderly people over 65 years old and people with chronic diseases were allowed to visit shops, pharmacies and take walks from 11 am to 1 pm.
The head of the Ministry of Health, Maxim Zabelin, said that the decision was "reasonable." Among the sick, 19.5% are patients over 65 years of age. Currently, 8,055 beds have been deployed in covid hospitals in the region to treat people with coronavirus infection and community-acquired pneumonia, 90% of which are occupied. According to the latest data, 72,512 people infected with COVID-19 have been registered in Bashkiria since the beginning of the pandemic. During the day, 633 new patients were identified.
