Deputies of the State Assembly - the Kurultai of Bashkiria will propose amendments to the federal law "On Education" in terms of school teaching of native languages and literatures. The authors of the initiative suggest that the regional authorities themselves establish the rules for admitting children to schools with an ethno-cultural bias. In addition, in regions where native non-Russian languages are studied, it is proposed to introduce an analogue of the Unified State Examination in these subjects.

“It is proposed to change the format of the state final certification in the native language and native literature. In particular, by analogy with the Unified State Examination in other subjects, to conduct a regional state exam, and take its results into account when enrolling in a university for specialized educational programs for the training of teachers of native languages or other specialists who need knowledge of their native language and literature to perform professional functions, ” - said the Chairman of the State Assembly Konstantin Tolkachev.

According to the speaker of the regional parliament, these legislative initiatives will help expand opportunities for learning native languages and literatures in the regions. In particular, schoolchildren will be able to freely learn their languages throughout the 11 years of school education, and then continue their education in higher education.

The Chairman of the State Assembly also noted that the initiative of the Bashkir deputies was supported by representatives of other regions.

“We held a round table where we discussed our proposals with deputies, educators and scientists from ten national republics of the Russian Federation. The concept of the bill was fully supported by colleagues,” Tolkachev added.
