Employees of the department of Roszdravnadzor will check the organization of medical care at the coronavirus hospital in Volgograd after reports of the death of a patient, according to the website of the department.

“The reason for the start of control measures is media reports about the death of a man in intensive care who suffocated while changing oxygen cylinders,” the report says.

On November 30, Bloknot Volgograd reported the death of
72-year-old Alexander Kunyshev in the coronavirus hospital No. 1. According to the publication, the man suffocated while replacing an oxygen cylinder.

According to the daughter of the deceased, the man was admitted to the hospital in a moderate condition with 30% lung damage. According to her, after a few days, her father's condition deteriorated sharply, but doctors said that he was stable.

Kunyshev died on November 13. According to his daughter, the medical staff decided to change the cylinder when the man sent his relatives to rest and remained alone in the ward. She claims that her father was left without oxygen: while the doctor left for a new cylinder, there was not enough oxygen in the old one, and the man suffocated.
