The introduction of new quarantine restrictions in Moscow will depend on the load on the medical system, Deputy Mayor Anastasia Rakova said on the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

According to Rakova, in Moscow, during the two years of the pandemic, rules for the introduction of strict restrictions were developed.

“Such restrictions are introduced when the medical system is working at its limit and we understand that if we don’t break the wave in the near future, our medical institutions will choke and collapse. <...> We will make a decision in accordance with the situation,” she explained.

Now, the deputy mayor noted, 7,000 beds in specialized hospitals (42% of the deployed reserve) are free in the capital, and there is an opportunity to deploy an additional bed fund. So far, the healthcare system is coping with the volume of hospitalizations, but its further growth cannot be ruled out, Rakova warned.

Regions with a shortage of beds in the last wave assessed their readiness for the “omicron” Society
