Putin thanked Sobyanin for making "not always popular decisions"

President Vladimir Putin congratulated Muscovites on the City Day and noted the merits of Mayor Sergei Sobyanin in making not always popular, but forced decisions during the pandemic. This was announced by the head of state, speaking with an appeal in the concert hall of the Zaryadye Park, broadcast on the Russia 24 TV channel.

“For the second year, unfortunately, we are celebrating this holiday (Moscow City Day) in the difficult conditions of the epidemic. I think many will agree with me, it is Moscow that sets an example of well-coordinated, effective actions in countering this threat <...> Here, of course, the great merit of the mayor of the capital, who is not afraid to take responsibility when making, unfortunately, not always popular, but necessary solutions,” the president said.

According to Putin, changes in the city keep pace with the times. “Large-scale infrastructure projects are being implemented here, high standards are set in the development of ecological and comfortable public transport, new stations and metro lines are being opened,” he listed.
