Collective immunity to COVID-19 in Russia has reached 60%, follows from preliminary data from a study by the St. Pasteur. This was stated by the director of the institution Areg Totolyan on the air of the Russia 1 TV channel.

“We have reached about 60% in the country as a whole, this is not the level that allows you to exhale, this is the level that allows you to manage the process. In fact, we need to reach 90%, ”he explained (quoted by RIA Novosti).

The fact that collective immunity to coronavirus will be formed when at least 60% of the population receives protection was previously said by Rospotrebnadzor and the Ministry of Health.

“In order to improve the epidemiological situation, it is necessary that population immunity is at least 60-70%. We will not approach zero incidence rates until the immune layer is formed, ”said Natalya Pshenichnaya, Deputy Director for Clinical and Analytical Work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor.
