
Perfumery and cosmetics retailer L'Etoile plans to expand the network of pharmacy corners in its stores and will open corners in 21 Russian cities by the end of the year. This was said in a statement.
“L'Etoile, the leader and key expert on the Russian perfumery and cosmetics market, plans to develop its own pharmaceutical network. Until the end of 2022, L'Etoile plans to open pharmacy corners in flagship stores in 21 cities across RUSSIA,” the company said in a statement.
Pharmacy corners are planned to open in Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Chelyabinsk, Krasnodar, Volgograd, Omsk, St. Petersburg , Novosibirsk, Samara, Rostov-on-Don, Ufa, Krasnoyarsk, Voronezh, Tyumen, Perm, Vladivostok, Barnaul, Khabarovsk, Sochi, Simferopol.
Andrey Bryukhov, a marketer from Perm, says that the times when the pharmacy business was a "tasty morsel" are over. Now the opening of a new network will not greatly affect the market.
“The market is big, fat, interesting. There was a wave when small private companies squeezed large ones. Major players feel at ease, they don't collide with each other, they grow, they buy each other. This market is already difficult to enter. This business was a tasty morsel 5-7 years ago, when L'Etoile and similar players could do it. This is a market that is growing at 2%. This player will go to Perm, because you can quickly and easily make money. Do not create something from scratch, for example, chemical production. Here everything happened once - at the click of a button. They will not change the balance of power. This is a natural calm event,” Andrey Bryukhov believes.
Maria Godovalova, marketer of the Apteka ot Sklada pharmacy chain, believes that it is too early to talk about how the opening of L'Etoile pharmacy corners will affect the Perm market.
“I think that you can comment only when they open, the assortment will be clear. It is not so easy to open a pharmaceutical outlet if we are talking about a pharmacy. Still, this is a licensed type of activity with a fairly decent list of conditions, requirements for both the premises and the staff. On the one hand, now many are looking for an additional niche for income, this is normal. There is quite tough competition in the industry,” says Maria Godovalova, marketer of the Apteka ot Sklada network.
