Bahrain approves emergency use of Sputnik Light

The Bahraini authorities allowed the urgent use of the Russian-made drug Sputnik Light for vaccination against coronavirus, the Bahrain News Agency reports.

The decision to approve Sputnik Light came after the national regulator reviewed its test results and clinical trial report.

Sputnik Light is the sixth vaccine approved for use in Bahrain. In addition to it, the country is allowed to be vaccinated with a Chinese-made drug Sinopharma, a vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech, an Indian Covishield (similar to the Anglo-Swedish AstraZeneca), a drug from Johnson & Johnson and the Russian Sputnik V.

Sputnik Light was registered in Russia on May 6. Its effectiveness is at the level of 79.4%, RDIF reported.
