April 18, MINSK. In Bulgaria, they propose to close the import of Ukrainian grain for six months. The corresponding bill on the ban was submitted to the country's parliament (People's Assembly) by the Bulgarian Socialist Party, reported.

The HEAD of the party, Kornelia Ninova, considers it necessary to protect the national interests of her country, "the economy and production, as well as people's HEALTH." Presenting the document, she demanded that the adoption of the bill be "one of the first decisions" of the People's Assembly.

The document provides for a ban on the import of wheat, sunflower, MILK powder, bee products from Ukraine to Bulgaria for six months.

The fact that Bulgaria is considering the possibility of introducing such a ban was previously reported by the Minister of Agriculture Yavor Gechev. In this case, Sofia is following the path of Hungary and Poland, which temporarily limited the import of Ukrainian agricultural products, which come to the common European market without duties. The decision by the countries was made against the backdrop of protests from local farmers, the agency said.
