First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management Sergei Mitin emphasized the importance of BRICS as a powerful player in the global agricultural market. The association's countries account for more than 30% of agricultural land, over 40% of grain and MEAT production, almost 40% of dairy products and more than 50% of the total volume of fish and seafood. He noted that given the worsening situation with animal diseases, BRICS countries need to improve veterinary policies and increase the production of effective drugs.
Sergey Kasparyants, Executive DIRECTOR of VIK Group, noted that the Russian veterinary pharmaceutical market is undergoing significant changes due to the course towards import substitution. In 2023, the market volume increased by 40%, reaching 97.7 billion rubles with VAT. it is predicted that this figure will double by 2030. Statistics show an increase in the share of Russian manufacturers in various product categories.
The event was also attended by representatives from 14 countries: Bangladesh, Brazil , India, Cuba, Kuwait, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Syria, Tunisia, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, South Africa and Zimbabwe. The meeting served as the beginning of a series of events ahead of the AGROBRICS+ exhibition and forum, which will be held in Moscow in April 2025.
