The main objective of the new center will be to improve the genetic potential of local livestock. In the context of increasing dependence on imported genetic materials, such a center will help improve food security in the region. As a result of selection work, it is expected that the quality of MILK and MEAT will improve, as well as the animals' resistance to diseases will increase, which, in turn, will reduce the cost of veterinary services. The first batch of cattle has already been purchased and is in quarantine, which indicates readiness to begin work.
RegionalMinister of Agriculture Alexander Efremov emphasized the need to increase milk production in the region to 1 million tons per year, and the genetic center will be an important part of this program. It is expected that it will take six to seven years to achieve this goal, which demonstrates strategic planning in agriculture.
The launch of the genetic center will not only increase the productivity of agricultural farms, but will also have a positive impact on the region’s economy, creating new jobs and increasing the income of local farmers. This could become an impetus for increased investment in agribusiness and the development of related industries, such as milk processing and feed production. Thus, the creation of the center is an important step towards the region’s independence from external supplies and increasing its competitiveness in the Russian market.
