Over the past six years, the epizootic situation for infectious diseases in the Tula region has improved significantly. The number of detected outbreaks has decreased from 111 to 6, which is almost 20 times less.

There have been no cases of rabies this year, while there were 4 cases the year before and 13 in 2019.

it was also possible to prevent cases of leptospirosis, infectious epididymitis in rams, smallpox in sheep and goats, as well as tuberculosis, which were previously detected in the region.

"In general, the epizootic situation in the region is stable. Emerging outbreaks are promptly eliminated. Thanks to timely diagnostic tests and preventive vaccinations, the incidence rate is decreasing," Svetlana Selezneva emphasized.

On September 1, a federal law came into force that obliges owners to mark domestic animals. This applies to both livestock enterprises and private farms. Such a measure will prevent the spread of contagious animal diseases, and if they are detected, quickly determine the source and routes of spread.

Animal records are kept by specialists of the state veterinary service. They all enter data into a single federal register. More than half of the heads of cattle and small cattle and other farm animals have already been identified. Owners must independently choose the type of marking. Entering data is free.
