Brazilian Meat Export Trends in March

A new report released by Brazil's Secretariat for Foreign Trade (Secex) shows that MEAT exports started to recover at the end of the first quarter. March deliveries of beef, pork and chicken rose in volume and revenue compared to the same period last year, according to official data.

The shipment of fresh, chilled or frozen beef in the third month of 2021 was 133,821 tons, up 5.9% from the same month last year, when 125,882 tons were exported. In revenue, growth was 11.61%, from $552.9 million a year earlier to $617.2 million last month. Shipment of fresh, chilled and frozen pork was 96,822 tons, up 53% from 63,296 tons in March 2020. In terms of sales, the value was up 56.6% to $244.3 million from $ 155.9 million.

Finally, exports of poultry meat and by-products increased by 8.47% in terms of revenue and 12% in terms of volume. In March, 367,191 tons were shipped compared to 327,706 tons in the same month of 2020. Revenue was $550.3 million compared to $507.3 million in March last year.
