Agricultural production in Russia shows growth, but experts predict cautious forecasts

Russia's Ministry of Economic Development forecasts overall agricultural production growth this year at 4.4%, but independent experts such as Alexander Korbut consider these forecasts overly optimistic. They suggest that real growth could be in the range of 3.5-3.6% compared to 2024 .

Dmitry Kasatkin, responsible for the agricultural sector at Kasatkin Consulting, also expresses caution in his expectations, linking this to the influence of the key interest rate, reduction of subsidies and unfavorable weather conditions. In turn, experts from the Reksoft Consulting center predict that the growth of the agro-industrial sector in 2025 will remain at the level of 2024 or slightly decrease by 0.5%.

Against this backdrop of fluctuations, it is important to consider long-term trends, such as a shift in cropping patterns towards oilseeds, which will require additional investment in technology and equipment.
