The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation presented the dynamics of the development of key sub-sectors of agriculture for 2020

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation on Wednesday presented data on key sub-sectors of agriculture for 2020. According to Dmitry Patrushev, the target indicators were achieved in many indicators. This official said during the five hundred and second meeting of the Federation Council.

“Last year grain harvest amounted to 133.5 million tons. This is more than 10% higher than the state program indicator. The vegetable harvest amounted to 5.4 million tons. The target indicator was exceeded by 200 thousand tons. For oilseeds, the harvest exceeded 14 million tons, which is 1 million tons higher than the indicator. The target for establishing perennial plantings was overfulfilled by 40% and amounted to 16,000 hectares,” said Dmitry Patrushev.

The politician added that in some sectors it was not possible to achieve targets - for example, potato production remained at the level of 6.8 million tons, which is slightly below the bar. This is due to unfavorable weather conditions in some regions. Also, despite the record harvest of 1.3 million tons of fruits and berries, 1% was not enough to reach the bar.  

Senators interested in duties on exports of agricultural products

As for the poultry and livestock industries, the production of livestock and poultry, according to the politician, reached 15.6 million tons. This is 3% higher than the state program indicator. Milk production in all categories of farms, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, reached 32.2 million tons of milk, which is 719 thousand tons more than the target.

According to the Dairy Market Research Center, in 2020, the level of milk production in Russia amounted to about 20.7 million tons.
