The Sychevskaya breed was developed in the Smolensk region by crossing local animals with Simmentals, which allowed combining the best features of both parent species, adapting the breed to the conditions of the region. The new status imposes additional obligations on the farm. JSC Smolenskoye has been breeding the Sychevskaya breed for over 30 years and considers the preservation of this unique national heritage its main goal.
The gene pool farm contains purebred animals with a high degree of blood, which helps preserve the genetic diversity of the breed. Experts note that the activities of such farms are of strategic importance for the development of domestic livestock farming.
