Spanish pork exporters sold more products abroad in the past calendar year despite declining sales in CHINA.
According to industry association Interporc, citing data from the national foreign trade database Datacomex, the southern European country sold abroad a total of 3.09 million tonnes of raw and processed pork in 2021, up 4% from the previous year. Sales growth was weaker due to price factors; revenue increased by 1.2% to 7.72 billion euros.
China remained the most important market for Spanish exporters in 2021, although shipments there fell by 10.4% to 1.25 million tonnes. France, the second most important buyer, bought 3% more goods, exactly 300,000 tons. Italy was in third place with a 5.9% drop in volume to 176,400 metric tons. According to Interporc, Spanish pork suppliers were able to significantly expand their business with the Philippines, with 157,800 t (+107.6%) delivered. The growth of business with SOUTH KOREA was even more notable; here the sales volume amounted to 121.3 thousand tons, having exceeded the indicator of the previous year by 123.5%.
